    Apple iphone and exchange

    guys,

Is anyone using iphone with exchange? I understand that with the latest firmware it will work, but have done a bit of googling and can't find any reports on how good it is?

    does it do full push?
does it sync calender and contacts?
    are there any problems?

I am thinking of getting a 2g iphone - not sure if that makes any difference?

    cheers

It's fine mate, does exactly what it says on the tin which is prob why you can't find many reviews! Basically the config alters dependant on what version of Exchange you're running and how the DNS records are setup but basically just put in your address, your mail server, and your credentials, and it's all done!

It also picks up on enforced security, ie if your Exchange admin has configured it so that the remote devices require a PIN then you will have to set a pin on your iPhone before it will sync.

In terms of what it does I think it does do contacts and calendars, but I have to admit I didn't actually turn them on as it's my personal handset and I just wanted the mails so disabled the other two options.

Pushmail also worked a treat, and that was using the original iPhone too - just make sure you've got a good data plan otherwise due to the way MS implemented push mail you could see an increase in your bill as soon as you activate it!

    Hi mate

im using it for email, calander and contacts, calander and contacts work really well, always since without fail.
The email doesnt always come through via exchange or push. Sometimes when the phone is idle for a while once you make a call all of a sudden you recieve a couple of messages.

On the whole it works well though.

by the way, on the negative side, you'll need to charge the phone every night as it will not last 2 days if its linked to an exchange server, although this applies with any windows mobile i've used with exchange too. Data kills the battery.

One more thing... Whilst you can accept Exchange meeting requests I was unable to create them from the phone.
