    Help Micro card problem

On my scanner/copier/fax at home it has a Pictbridge to read memory cards. If I put in a CF card it opens a window on the pc asking what I would like to do with the card. If however I put in a SD Micro card (in it's adapter) nothing happens apart from a green LED on the printer illuminating to acknowledge that the card is in the slot.

At first I thought it may because the new micro card was empty so I took a couple of pics on my mobile saving them to the card but to no avail.

What I am trying to do is transfer some pics from the pc onto the card as I wanted to give it as a present to someone so they can use it in their digital picture frame. But I am not getting the option of transferring them to the card as it doesn't register on the pc that the card is there.

Any ideas what I need to do please? Will I have to buy a separate card reader??

Sounds like it doesn't recognise the card properly. I would pick up a card reader to do this sort of thing mate. Better way of accessing your CF cards anyway as you are not reliant on the printer. Is the SD an SDHC by any chance?

I had one that did a similar thing (similar because I don't recall there being a light on it).

Sticking the card in and out a few times till the computer made the "I have found something new sound" was the only way I could get it to eventually see the card. This could sometimes take 20+ goes before it would eventually work.

    Good luck.

    Nice one pal.

It's a SanDisk microSDHC...why it is a common problem with them?

info that i found may help...

    SD and SDHC compatibility issues

As of early 2007, the simultaneous availability of non-standard 4 GB SD and 4 GB SDHC cards, and incompatibilities between SD and SDHC have caused confusion among consumers buying memory devices.

SD and SDHC cards and devices have these compatibility issues :
    • Devices that do not specifically support SDHC do not recognize SDHC memory cards.
    • Some manufacturers have produced 4 GB SD cards that conform to neither the SD2.0/SDHC spec nor existing SD devices.

Why does "fat chance" and "slim chance" mean
    the same thing?

That's helpful thanks. The printer/fax/copier is about 4 years old so that would make sense. Cheers
