Why oh why does this country grind to a halt at the first hint of snow. Just got into work, normally takes 20 minutes, 30 on a bad day.
3 BASTARDING HOURS AND 2 CUNTING MINUTES!!!!!!

I only live 10 miles from work.

It took me an hour this morning and I only live 1 mile away! Got woke up by a bus doing a burnout outside my front window at 6:30 which was kinda cool. My Lancer has summer tires on it and is crap in the snow, they shouldn't be able to sell new cars in the UK with tires that say should never be driven in snow.

Herman refrence made me chuckle, can't believe people with EVO's and semi slick tires use their cars in this weather!

Haven't had a decent snowfall here for about 15 years, IMO its the worst thing about being a southerner. I can take all the "soft southern shandy drinker" jibes, all the "typical United fan" jibes, but the lack of any snow is a bloody killer

LMAO!! Now I don't know Derbyshire, but I do know the bit of Sheffield that borders Derbyshire, and that looks like prime snow country to me! Actually shit, I'm going up there this weekend, dont want to drive all that way if there's snow!

they have more than 6 inches lying about 5 to 10 miles further inland from here, but just on the outside of the city we have about 2-3 inches and it gets less and less down to almost none in the city center.

luckily that amount doesnt really mess us up too badly. the traffic slows a bit but people here are used to it and we have the infrastructure to deal with it, which is nice

what's funny is when snow hits really far south. i've seen us with 2-3 inches and not even notice then on the national news there will be reports of the "chaos" because of less than an inch in london. it's just a lack of equipment and experience that causes it more than the snow itself

it's been fucking accident mayhem today though, loads of idiots flying off the road. saw a massive 4x4 jeep type thing in the ditch just after a right angled bend on my way to work this morning but it seems to have been pulled out now.

Oi! I was young and stupid back then, I've matured a lot in the last month .

Just joking, twas a very stupid thing to do on my behalf, but I didn't even think about the tyres, just hopped in my car and hit the fence.

Weather is total and utter shite! I hate it with a passion. Tried to take my mums car to work today and it just wasn't happening, rear wheel drive, intrusive traction control (which I had to turn off after a bit) and Goodyear Eagle F1's (also summer tyres) dont mix with snow very well!

Couldn't even get out of the street regardless of how much we tried pushing it and how much grit we put down.

Need to take my mums car in to get my new tyres fitted onto my spare alloys (which incidentally came with winter tyres) and then have them fit the tyres that came with my spare alloys onto my mums car, so it might actually get some grip.

Worst thing about today is that it was all slushy and therefore gave even less grip than fresh snow, wheels just spinning non-stop!

Speak for yourself! It normally takes me 30 mins to get to work, yesterday it took me 1 hour 15 mins! Total piss take! Also, the cunts that we call the government/council have decided it would be fun to slash £20,000,000 from this years budget by reducing the number of gritters and snow plows. A fucking joke if you ask me, they're toying with peoples lives here. There was a 5 car pile up yesterday (with a 70 year old man getting killed) and a 2 car crash as well with all the occupants in hospital.

Maybe they council/government will do something once they get the pants sued off them for the death of a loved one due to roads not being cleared in a reasonable time.

I remember we used to see 7 or 8 gritters on the road and even the small ones that clean the paths. Now your lucky to see 1 or 2 gritters on the road and there's not a single one on any of the paths around here any more.
