Well was able to force config's here in Hertfordshire until this morning. Now have to remove the force MAC to connect.
Anyone got any 20meg MAC's for Herts area? lol
If anyone is trying this for the first time and getting nowhere fast, one thing you might want to check is that your ethernet adapter has a MAC address. This can be done by going to the command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd) and typing ipconfig /all.
I pulled my hair out for ages when my Ambit 250 would not go online. Eventually I traced it down to the fact that my NVIDIA Ethernet controller - integrated into a DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D motherboard - had its MAC address set to 'Not Present' in Device Manager. Essentially its MAC address was equivalent to 00:00:00:00:00:00. This is not golf.
After assigning it a randomly generated MAC address, the cable modem magically went online!
Sorry to hijack the thread lads. I'm on NTL in Ireland and was wondering is it possible to get higher speeds over here? Any help would be great.
You are governed by the speed available in your area. Usually, checking your postcode tells you the speed you can get at this here -
