    Newbie Forcing config file

I have a sb5101e been forcing a 20meg config file on it for ages but a few days ok it would not get pass the Establish IP Connectivity stage done some research and you can`t force the config file any more so you’re stuck with the config file that goes with that Mac address is there any way round this problem.

So is this why so many of my freinds modems have gone off then because they didn't have genuine macs. Is it easy to change this (doesn't matter if it's 20 meg or not) sorry I'm a relative noob at this. They all have the Ambit 250 modems that were previously on 20 meg.

When I sniff for MAC's I tend to leave it doing for 24 hours. You wont usually find a MAC until someone is using their internet.

My area doesnt show any for a long while, but after a 24 hour search I can usually end up with a good 10-20 20Mb MAC addresses.

Remember though, you need to use a MAC address thats registered on a different UBR!

To find out your URB, goto http://tools.virginmedia.com and look towards the bottom of the page for your physical address.
