Info Uploading databases and stuff ...

    Hey,

I've created a small web application (asp.net) in Visual Studio 2008. I've made a little login control for it. However how the bloody hell do I upload it with its database (MS SQL) and stuff? Is there a certain method or way? Any tutorials?

Anyone have experience with this? I've purchased some web developer webspace and I've got access to an SQL server, but I just dunno how to do it?! Can anyone talk me through it?

    Its driving me crazy!!!

SQL and MySQL are very different, so it wouldn't just be a matter of uploading what you have. Your host should have a control panel to log in to your server environment, and have provided FTP details for you to upload the physical files. Then all you have to do is upload your database which I would suggest is done via phpmyadmin - if you are going mysql to mysql that is. All you need to do there then would be to export your database in your loacl phpmyadmin and then simply enter that into a SQL panel and press Go.

Apologies if I've got this all wrong!

Alright Roo if you download a free FTP program

few off the top of my head
    Cute FTP
    Smart FTP
    FTP explorer
can get them in normal places without 30 trial etc

stick in the FTP login details and drag the contents over to the site should upload them.

gives a shout on msn if you get stuck

Just to add to the fine list of FTP programs above, if you use FireFox take a look at FireFTP. Its not the most powerful and function full FTP app, but it works well and means you dont need to load another app.
