Is the problem in dos mtkflash crashes when you select your VIA card? If so then everytime that has happened to me it is a picky drive so try the '10 second trick' for a little longer or little shorter time til you get it right. Never failed me.

Not really, only that you might save a bit of money buying a faulty sammy, switching the boards and flashing your key to it. At least I think you can do this like with hitachis.

Almost certainly a Lite-on. Pull of the faceplate and just under the right hand side of the disc tray is an oval hole. Shine a light in it, if there is a white wire it is a benq, yellow is lite-on. It won't be but a black plastic blanking plate is a hitachi and a red and black wire is a samsung.

Is it deffo an Ms28? My advice is to use DosFlash.

PC and 360 on at the same time, Sata UNPLUGGED. Plug Sata in at dos prompt, C:\dosflash

It'll then say device not responding on port 1... Do you want to resend the command? = N
It'll then scan other connections... when it finds your VIA, select Y to resend command. Power cycle 360 and you should be fine.

    Some more information

    - All Ixtreme 1.5 firmwares are complete and are under final testing
    - C4eva wishes us a Merry Xmas and a Happy New year (awww)
    - The flash tools are Comand line interface and GUI
    - C4eva says that the Lite-on is the best drive and that he is very impressed with it

Ill give it a bash tomorrow, but i bought the 360 from work today drive wont open so i used the emergeny hole put an original in played fine.
Xbox hasnt been opened or touched just think that the drive is a lttle out, ill open it and realingn it
although its ejecting fine at the minute, or when there's a disc in the drive, empty tray and its become's sticky.
Brings me back to my original prob again still need a drive or find a way of flashing it, its 100% ms28 forgot to mention that it has e74 error when booting but still managed to grab key from it
ll have a bit mess again then prob just bin it
    hitachi 79FL flashed :)

To fix the drive try opening the tray then removing the elastic belt you can see inside the drive, put it in hot water and leave for 10 mins odd, then completely dry and reattach. That sorted out some samsungs for me. If not you might need a new belt for a few quid on ebay.

these techniques are so old so is that other guy that said the hold the power button etc

sam and benq are both really easy with iprep 0008

you only need a few commands

    Dosflash - dump your fw
    copy oldfw /backup/oldfw
    firmtool oldfw newfw
    dosflash and write newfw

this is with drive turned on all the time

    I did a MS28 and a benq yesterday

also did a hit 79 with the unlock disc there all so easy now

ps i can make a better guide if requested

iPrep is a guide within itself as it tells you what to do and when. I use MTKflash when forcing a flash as on the older iPrep spoofed FW would not flash for me and one or two other problems were solved by doing it all manually.

In most cases these will sort anyone out, but a couple of them need updating as new software (e.g. CK3 tool) has made things even easier.
