    Default New to Star Wars

My little girl is now 4 and is showing serious interest in Star Wars after catching bits that have been on ITV the last few weeks.

Obviously when I watched them as a child I did them in the following order 4, 5, 6 and then the 1, 2 and 3 when they came out recently.

Question is what order should I let her watch them? 1 - 6 or as I did it?

    That's a hard question, I'd actually go with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Especially as the first 3 are more child orientated imho.

    You should add a poll.

I think as you did because the visual effects in the last 3 (the old 3) will be such a come down for her...plus, being 4, would she really have a massive grip on the story?

It just has to be done 4-6 then 1-3. Sorry but I insist.

I let my son (also 4) watch 1-6. Also, if you got Sky, the animated Clone Wars is on every saturday at 5.30, its a 30 min show and its not to bad (but i am bias )

TBH Bert I dont think it makes much difference.
My 8 year old loves Star Wars. He started getting interested from Ep 2, then watched 3 but since then he will watch any episode but often chooses the earlier episodes, 4 & 5 particularly.
The effects are only really relevant to adults I think. So 4,5,6 then 1,2,3 would be fine, well it is in my house.

I'm just d/l'ing all six again, with a view to watch them in order.

Mostly to see if the first three EPs are any better than I recall them being.

I also watched 4,5 and 6 as a kid, then after the release of EP1, it ruined it all for me and never even watched Ep 2 and 3.

Now I plan to waste a Sunday watching all 6. Thanks a bloody lot ITV...

She does plenty of that, could swim a length at three and ride her Ridgeback bike without stabilisers so is subsequently one of the fittest four year olds I know so lay off with the parenting advice.

The Special is dire to be honest but I have started her watching them from ep 4 onwards as I think that is the best way.

Yep and make sure you educate her that the hologram at the end of Return of the Jedi should show Sebastian Shaw not Hayden Christiansen.

I posted in jest / tongue in cheek.

you need to justify your parenting to me as much as I to you - i.e. we don't.

as for your original question... she should watch them 4, 5, 6, only.

I'm still loving the thought of a weekly star wars show.....

But in answer to the question, I would say 4-6, then 1-3, purely based on the whole aesthetic factor.

Or you could show them in order of how good they are:

    1: III
    2: II
    3: I
    4: VI
    5: V
    6: IV

    Flame on!

    Shooooooo-ryuken!
