nice pic. Is that a pet? It doesn't look like a common house or garden spider? I'd shite meself if that was wandering round our house.

    Its the Tegenaria gigantea.

Common house spider, quick, brutal, marvellous.

Lol, I was trying to get a shot of a large crow in a tree yesterday (by hanging out of an upstairs window at the back of my house). Everytime I came back in (because it was fucking taters and I was letting all the heat out) I would shut the window and then a nice big crow landed in nearby tree! And then every time I got the fucking window open and propped by tripod onto the ledge the fucker flew away

I wouldnt use a tripod for a bird due to the fast shutter speed required to freeze it ,unless its a humungous lens and needed support ,but with any wildlife its always the same they sit still when you dont have any intent to photograph them lol

Was using my 70-300mm and had the grip on too so was holding some weight.

Might used stuffed animals in future.

It could be an idea to place some sort of support on the window ledge ,like a heavy vase (something you can talk the wife into) so you can work off of it in case the situation arises again .
