    Xbox 360 power brick needed

    Hey guys,

Dont know how this has happened but i have ended up with the wrong psu for my spare 360, thing is it must have been wrong from the store as it was bought as a spare and i only set it up yesterday for the mrs,

the one i use normally works in it and has the metal shorud round it , but the other one i have is just plastic and doesnt fit in the hole....

the bitch wants to play with her lips which is digging into my cod time!

so does anyone have a metal shouded psu they can sell me, and i have a plastic one if anybody needs it.

Check the psu ratings as well, I think there was a 203w and 175w version. Info on the net says that one type has one plug, other has different, but I suspect this may not always be the case.

You CAN use the 175w power supply on all the xbox360's it does'nt matter whether it's a plastic or metal connector as I have used the 175w version with the wrong type of power connector by simply snipping the plastic which cause's it not to fit(it's in the middle of the connector, check the xbox360 also to confirm this) using a stanley blade and a small file to remove it completely, and it work's perfect.

phone microsoft qualcast, just tell them that there is a red light on the powerbrick and that you've tried it on a friends console which didn't work and your friend tried his one on your console which did work. They'll send you out a new one no problems as long as one of your consoles is in warranty.

there are 3 types of power supply for the 360 now, all are backward compatable, i e all psu will work on new 360 but the older models need the right supply, at sanj, your luckly mate, wont be long before it dies, the first 360s needed a 200 watt psu, if its not getting it then bad times ahead for that one for sure, unless its been back to ms and has a newer model board in it.

Yeah, that's why I suggested it. I got one from MS a few days ago.

if you managed to get a 175w into an older model you must have cut the bit out on the connection that stops it from being used.

175w will NOT work in the older models.
