I saw these but think I'll invest the extra in an aspire one linux then upgrade it to XP, as there seem more forum support for these. Also SSD are getting bashed in forums for slowing the machine down.

Don't bother mate, the spec are really bad. Spend the extra few quid and get the Acer Aspire One

I think calling installing XP as an upgrade is a matter of opinion. And I really wouldn't bother it will only slow the machine down.

I've got the Asus Eee PC 1000 with 40gb SSD and can confirm its a lot faster than the 120GB HD version both running Ubuntu 8.10.

Was only thinking of down grading to XP as the wife would be using it, might just see how she gets on with linux first.
