In my opinion there is too much info straight away. I would like to see the goods then look for the times and boring stuff. IMO
Or have menus and just tidy it up.
But love the stuff you are selling
First thing that would stop me buying off you is the plethora of Banksy shite on there. Its for cunts who have no idea about art but want to make their friends think they are a little bit contemporary. Try Gustav Klimt FFS.
Site desgn is reasonably solid but would move all the blurb to the bottom or off onto a linked page maybe and keep the 'art' as the focus from the get go.
Agree with whats said above. The basic site is nice - fonts, colours, header (may be a little too big, but I like it). Main problem is the plethora of information, IMO if you are trying to sell you need to impact a few items first and foremost so the buyer sees what you are about right away - if wanted to buy Moona Lisa I would have to scroll all the way down to the bottom, and may users will have the wrong impression of your site from doing that. Look at categorising the art, having a "gallery" off which people can browse and buy. You don't need the contact info on the front screen as you have it on the about screen, which is where people will naturally look. The "canvas art" section on the right seems to serve little purpose that couldn't be better used.
Here's a few issues:
- The header is too big
- Difficult to navigate - Menus should ideally be to the left hand side
- Too much text on the home page and it's a right jumble of shite that doesn't belong there, what the fuck is the company number etc. doing mixed in with it all, that should be on a separate page. The home page needs to communicate what you sell and have a call to action to encourage someone to click through to a page where they can easily view the products and buy.
- The first thing I read was 'We have a flagship store where you can buy and view in person(actually it's a little shop in the east end ) still we mustn't grumble.' <- now I'm assuming you don't sell online and as a prospective online customer I'm navigating away at this point.
I agree with too much to take in.
Opening page needs to be made more simple.
How about you take take the information at the bottom(all the paintings) and put that on the left in categories and then on the right have a top 10 list of best sellers.
Apple's website is like that and its a lot of information at your fingertips but it never overwhelms you.
* header too big
* mix of all sorts of info, got bored / frustrated early on (strangely enough i also focussed on the contact details)
* didnt understand the items on right AND below
- perhaps front page then sales page
* when i select item on right i dontr see why i should have to click more info for price / size etc. totally unnecessary additional keystroke
* keep tech info separate i.e,. canvas stretching - all i want to see is a nice big image of ther print and the price, i dont give a fuck if it your favourite etc.
* separate sections on contact us
* 'login' put me off, most sites dont have this
solid feel to the site, good luck
Q. What stops you buying from my site?
A. I didn't know it even existed.
looks like a blog - not a store
Thanks chaps. I will change it over the next few days. The reason it was full of text was for SEO purposes.
If you go to google and key in"banksy prints", "banksy canvas", "banksy wholesale".
I am number one for all the keywords that I want except Banksy.
Just for the key word "banksy" I am number 11 BUT no selling sites are before me, they are mostly media sites.
Got to balance the key words for SEO so not to lose my ranking. Up to a page rank of 4 in only a year.
I'll post hopefully an mproved site and let you lot take me down a peg again next week.
Also question for Raptor and anybody else here who runs a selling site. What is your conversion rate. ie If you get 1000 visitors a day what percentage do you convert into buying customers. My conversion rate is crap (about 1.5%) I am trying to edge it closer to 10 percent by the end of next year
Cheers

Nothing wrong with selling banksy imo, if it sells then so be it, who cares if a lot of pretentious wankers are your clientelle, it's all about the money. I love Banksy art however since going to the last exhibition of it I now dislike banksy. He is a sell out, now for the amount of money he is raking in off prints I would be a sell out too but it kind of destroys the respect I had for him as an artist.
Anyway back to the site, I think you need to look into grouping more on the right hand menu. The top has 8 items but the rest are just a list of stock which is a bit repetitive. You could have a page which has thumbnails of every print so people can click them for product info. Take the list below 'canvas art' out, move that right hand bar to the left and a link on the top navbar to 'collection' to the page of all your items. Then maybe a dynamic front page that alters what 10 or so products are displayed?
Other than the suggestions already made though I think it's a nice fresh looking site mate.
Retails websites, on avaregae, convert at around 3%. So your aim of 10% is very high, only the most popular sites like ebay and amazon etc. convert at 10% and above.
As regards your SEO, you may be as high in the natural listings but if you're not converting then it doesn't matter. You need to find a happy medium between sensible SEO considerations and a site that converts.
Cheers CZAR, that's what I am going. to try and do.
Thanks also to Evilsatan.
OK flipper
Made slight changes to the front page but I am keeping the nav bar on the right. SEO is baffling and i won't want to rock the boat too much.
Also set up a Voucher code for which gives you 50% off as a thank you.
When you come to checkout enter [SHOWTOGROUPS=80]DFVIP[/SHOWTOGROUPS] an d you will get 50% off.
Going to delete this voucher code on Tuesday in case it ends up on one of them saving money forums

that's a generous discount you've given, your profit margins must be healthy
i noticed your heading banner looped on my resolution and I could see the shop name twice - not in a good way. try turning that off.
