Default ps3 Repair advice Blu ray drive problem ,ive tried full new drive and laser.?

ps3 Repair advice Blu ray drive problem ,ive tried full new drive and laser.?

Hi i wonder if anyone can help me please , basically sony ps3 (model :- CECHG03 ) not loading games , ive tried a fully working drive from another fully working playstation 3 , but the console still wont load games , ive also tried a new working laser in the same drive , still no luck

So i assume its a different problem , can anyone help , or point me in the right direction to help solve this issue.

I'm told that this is a common problem.

    TIA.

Yeah very common problem this with the drive not reading anything - get sony rung up, they should just replace your ps3 even if it is out of warranty. I and a few other I know and on here have sent their ps3's back out of warranty no problems as well, make sure when they ask you when you bought it you say within the last 12 months tho unless you already have it registered with them.

Im sure I read on this forum that someone formatted there hard drive and that cured the problem, as odd as it may have sounded.

Although they repair out of warranty apparently the sticker still needs to be in tact. I have had to send 2 back that didn't read anything. Not sure what happens if you say the sticker is in tact when it isn't tohugh...

They don't check though? They just send a courier out with your new / refurb console and they swap over?

No they disn't check for me, all I remember is when I was asking on here what to do with a faulty system I was told it can be out of warranty if the sticker is in tact. So wasn't sure if when Sony get it they check and contact you or not. My personal console has no warranty sticker (not a clue why not, bought second hand) but havn't played it yet. If it does go wrong I will chance getting it repaired lol

my daughter turned 18 last thursday , she had friends over on friday to have alittle piss up and sing on the ps3, updated to the latest firmware and now the ps3 does'nt load any discs anymore, only problem is, its a usa version, do you have to tell them any codes when you ring up, like the warranty sticker

    cheers

Are your ps3's 40 gig or 60 gig versions?

For 40 gigs this is a common problem that formatting the hard drive will 9 out of 10 times rectify. Failing that if you have changed the bluray and laser, the problem is on your mainboard and will have to be fixed by Sony.

Edit : BTW did you know the Bluray drives are some how linked to each PS3 and cant be swapped over as easy as that. Also when you said you changed the laser did you just replace the laser or the full spindle unit aswell? As the 60 gig's tend to blow the spindle motor too.

AS I MENTIONED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BLURAY DRIVE IS A CIRCUILT BOARD
THIS IS MATCHED WITH YOUR MOTHERBAORD

YOU NEED TO SWAP THIS OVER WITH YOUR OLD ONE OTHERWISE IT WONT WORK
I HAVE EXPERIANCE WITH THESE AS I HAD A UK ONE WITH A FAULKTY MOTHERBAORD
I BROUGHT A USA MOTHERBARD + DRIVE BOARD FROM THE USA

PUT THE USA MOTHERBAORD IN + SWAPED CIRCULTS WITH THE BLURAY DRIVE
IT WORKED FOR A BIT THEN DIES
CUT MY LOSSES SOLD IT IN BITS ON EBAY

GOT £120 FOR THE BLUR RAY DRIVE ALONE
    GOT £40 FOR THE CASE
    AND SOLD THE OTHER BITS
    PAID NEARLY FOR ANOTHER CONSOLE
