Default couple of probs after pc components upgrade.

    hi

i've just upgraded the cpu, mobo and ram in my main pc and am experoencing a couple of slight probs

first is that if i reboot the pc it hangs on the dos screen saying "verifying dmi pool data" or something along those lines.

the only way to get it to boot is to f12 and select the hd in the boot menu, then it boots as normal.

the other thing is i can't get any sound out of it, i've installed all the drivers etc that came with the mobo, when i go down to the taskbar the speakers aren't muted, and the green bar is moving up and down like its getting an audio signal its just npot coming out the speakers?

one other thing on boot it tells me the sata is in ide mode, should i set that to achi??

    cheers for your time

For the verifying dmi pool data issue, try going into your BIOS and resetting it to the defaults.

Secondly, double check your speakers are plugged into the green port. Maybe try another set of speakers.

Thirdly, yes set it to AHCI

If you go into the BIOS and startup options, set the hard disk to boot first.

As for your hanging issue, is your RAM ok. Can you half the ram (remove a stick) and the PC still work.

Is the PSU large enough to cope with the new kit. Unplug your DVD roms etc to test

I ran into a similar issue, and it was a faulty CD ROM drive that was causing the boot to halt while it tried to initialize it. So I disconnected the IDE cable and it booted fine. The strongest indication that this might be the issue is if you go into your BIOS and your CD ROM (or even a HD) is not listed there, when you know you have it plugged in correctly.

You may need to remove all non-critical components one-by-one and reboot after each one is removed, to find the culprit.

    I hope that helps.
