Default Impreza WRX TURBO - 2004 any good..

    Hi..
I think about buying a Impreza WRX TURBO

It's a 2004 model 48,0000 full Subaru history with 6 stamps and a upgraded prodrive performance exhaust - for 5900

Am I right in thinking these car are 225BHP as standard ?
Is this a good deal ?
    Cheers
    Ian...

Sounds like a good deal. I take it is a private seller at that price?

Is it a full Prodrive system or just the back box? Around 221BHP is standard.

They are a very nice car to drive just make sure you have lots of money as they are group 20 insurance and you tend to get carried away with modifications.

Go for an Evo mate, an extra 60 BHP as standard (280 BHP) unless you go for an Evo VIII 260 in which case you'll get 260 BHP.

I do like Scooby's but I tend to find them a fair bit more common than the Evos.

As for your original question tho, that does seem to be quite a good deal. As said above, remember that they are group 20 insurance so if you plan on modifying it then try a specialist insurance company such as A-Plan, Adrian Flux, etc.

How old are you though? Most of the insurers that specialise in modded cars will require you to be over 25 (some say over 23) to get insured on a car like that. I'm only 21 so non of them would insure me on my Evo for anything under £3,000 but to my surprise Elephant said they would insure me fully comp with all mods declared for £1,400!

No doubt that if I was older then A-Plan, etc would be able to insure me for less than the likes of Elephant.

I notice on the evo forums that 260 owners get the piss taken out of them, so I'd avoid that model.

If you're lucky you can get a good evo6(1999/2000) for that money

I dont see why though, its only 20 BHP less and has a smaller rear spoiler. Personally I wouldn't go for one, but I would never say to someone that it's "not a proper Evo" just because it has a smaller spoiler and 20 BHP less.

Oh I know, I think the same.

Anyway, just had a quick look on autotrader, and there's a fair few scoobys on there. The price looks about right too.

A mate used to have one and they're pretty rapid.

Fecking hell 600 fully comp. I pay 450 on a ford focus diesel ffs

I too am interested to know how much the Evos/Scoobys need servicing. I reckon I could squeeze the insurance but the servicing sounds expensive.

For starters you should get http://www.limitless.co.nz/ software & cable. This negates the need to use the main dealer diagnostic machine. This also will do all the ayc bleeding etc which used to main dealer or specialist only. it's paid for itself already and I've only used it twice so far.

my evo6 fuel tank takes about 40 quid to fill up, so yes, very small.

Yup, servicing needs done every 4,500 miles and yes the fuel tank is quite small. I think its meant to be about 50 liters, but as said above it only costs about £40 to fill up, so not sure if it is really 50 liters.

The impreza P1 is my favourite. The "new shape" just don't do it for me.

That's a very nice STi you have bought there.

You might have already found this, but here is a link to a Scoob forum that is in your area.

Looks very nice mate, I have always liked the STi's. Is she standard or has she been modded? Hope you enjoy it mate, now the snows about go have some fun, sideways style!

    Obviously only on private land!

Also, always kind of wondered this, do those air scoops get in the way of your view when driving?
