I did this and it works. I downloaded the Superman Returns shield something that is not available anymore.

You do need to be connected to XBL to download of course. The image will show up as a black picture but as soon as you select it in the dashboard it will load.

Interesting mate. I've got a few of those HDD adapters lying about. Would be interesting to actually use 1 for once!
