I sent my Cousins back for him and it is on its way back from Germany.

The 360 had a faulty laser, 3 RL, Flashed, Banned and had been dropped and cracked. Had my fingers crossed for him.

what number can i contact ms on? game website says faulty hardware will be replaced like for like with valid proof of purchase. i dont have the receipt like i say but will they accept bank statement paired with the data from my game reward card?

wouldnt it be easier to take it to game which is ten minutes away? lol thansk for the link though if it doesnt work out at game i'll send it to MS. i want to play game of the week on civ rev so i dont want it being away for ages if avoidable.

i bought mines in April from game and this has happened to me today. the colours went all funny then its stopped showing anything on screen. i dont have a receipt, but if i take my bank statement and my game reward card with the evidence of a purchase on it will they still replace it?

If you bought it with your reward card for the points then Game automatically have a record of your transaction and that acts as your proof (no receipt needed). As for replacing/repairing etc then that's a different battle!

Take some pics on your phone to show them what's wrong with it, saves you having to wait while they power up and check out etc....

i took it down today. they plugged it in, tried it, realised it wasnt working and just gave me a new box. got to keep the hd they just swapped the unit for a brand new one. if it breaks again before 1 april i can do the same. otherwise i got an extended manufacturers warranty.

Banned XBox's have been know to be repaired, unbanned and sent back sorted. Good luck, you never know!

Common misconception.

Just because they swapped it doent mean it's got a new 12 months guarantee.
It still goes from the original date of purchase.

The only way it would be a new guarantee is if it was a 'Refund - Resale'.

As is stated in all 'Consumer Rights' statements. Your guarantee runs from the 'Date of Purchase''.

The date of purchase is explained as the time at which the actual sale took place.
(When money exchanged hands and the original receipt was issued).

Hence, if no money changed hands and another 'fresh' receipt was not issued your original April purchase still stands! Your guarantee will expire in April.

whyen you took the faulty 360 back to the shop and they replaced it with a new one they should have given you a new reciept as all items of stock have to be counted for there for you now have a fresh 13 month s warranty . i bought my elite on the day of release and took it back faulty in december 07 and was given a new console which when i phoned ms with my current fault was told that if it had been a couple of weeks earlyer i would have still been in the 12 months and been able to take it back to the shop i bought it from

The manufacturer guarantee runs from the date on the unit. This is explained when you register your unit.

Lets suppose you buy your unit from a shop and the date of manfacturer is already 2 months old (been in storage by the retailer), you DO lose those 2 months! This is why the shop goes from the day of purchase and your guarantee with the manufacturer asks for proof of purchase - so they return the lost 'storage time' to the unit.

As we all know when a year past this date has gone, you cannot get any joy from them. (Unless it's RROD - which is covered for 3 years).

Shops are only obliged to give upto 14 days for a defective item, after this time, it's down to the manufacturer.

well after a conversation with trading standards a few years ago about a pc monitor that was 8 months old when you buy somet the contract for 12 months is with the retailer and not the maker

Got it back tonight, new DVD drive and new motherboard. Powered it up and logged onto Live no problem.

Only problem with the 360 is the faceplate doesn't seem to allign right.

When messing about with it, it either turns on but doesn't eject or doesn't turn on but ejects.

Can you buy a plain cream faceplate, or does anyone have a spare??

I have sent 2 back and never had the same one returned!
