Xbox 360 Xbox 360 has died

My Xbox 360 has popped its clogs. There is sound but not picture. I was playing it last night when all of a sudden the graphics went to what appeared to be 256 colours.

Went back to the dash and it was the same. I switched it off and on and now there is only sound no picture.

The console was banned. Though when I bought it in March this year the sales person at Zavvi told me that if it failed then I would just bring it in and they would swap it over.

Has anyone has sucess returning a console to a shop for a swap over. Do they actually check that the warranty sticker is intact.

If its within the initial 12 months warranty you have every right to take it back to the shop, its better obviously if you have the receipt.

As for the sticker, you can only give it a go m8!

Nibb I have the 120gb transfer kit and I can browse the 20gb data using xplorer extreme. can I back up the saves and transfer then to the new drive if they swap it over or are the saves tied to the drive.

Phoned Zavvi spoke to a very helpful person and he informed me that I was given wrong info about returning it, he also checked with his manager and she said the same thing. Oh well time to book an online repair.

Fuck it it means if they repair it I will get a liteon bugger

according to him part of their training is that they are told its 28 days for consoles and then the rest is covered by MS. Im gonna send it back as long as it gets fixed then thats the main thing.

They are full of shit.....you're contract is with the retailer, not the manufacturer.

Less than 6 months, the onus is on the retailer to prove there is "NOT" a fault, 6 months to 1 year, the onus is on the owner to prove there "IS" a fault.

Any service provided by MS for exchanges is provided by them over and above your rights under the Sales of Goods Act...what this means is that while MS might offer to replace it, the retailer still has a legal obligation to do so, though they themselves are quite entitled to send it back to MS on your behalf.

Sadly so, but the point is they cannot just fob you off and tell you to contact MS yourself.

It's down to the retailer, tell them they have to sort it for you and quote some of the posted sections of law. I hate it hen shops try to get away with this shit. And if you get a lite-on that's a good thing. Supposedly the best drive to date!

If your talking about spoofing, then yes there is more involved but as long as you follow the guides its no more difficult than the rest.

Also the drive itself is supposedly flashable from 24/12, which is when the ixtreme 1.5 firmware is due to be released.

Well looks like even online they know its banned as I got this error message

""The service order did not pass the validation check because of a product flag or another repair order already exists for the serial number"

So looks like they know its banned.

Well, if you can restore the flash and prefectly re-sticker it up, that "product flag" is going to be Zavvi's problem !

Im interested to read about that occuring though, as my mates have been able to send back banned machines in the past, and I did think it strange that the left hand wasnt talking to the right hand etc etc.
