Default Might be looking to buy...

Sony DSLR-A200K Digital SLR Camera + Zoom Lens Kit: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Is this camera any good guys? I also don't understand the ratings of the lens on it. How much of a zoom will it have?

    Thanks for any help.

or any suggestions around that price range that include a good zoom? I can only afford around £250-£300 for both.

For £300 you can get a second hand 400D with kit lens and probably a Canon 50mmm as well. The Sony cam's are getting better and better but I know very little about them so can't comment.

The Sony 18-70mm lens is roughly equivalent to a 27-105mm lens in 35mm format, which gives about a 3.8 zoom ratio (Divide the big number by the small number).

The Sony camera is as capable as any similar priced DSLR and can use most of the old Minolta A mount lenses which can be cheaper.

This a good site with loads of info: http://www.dyxum.com
