    Default Washer/Dryers -- any opinions?

Went out shopping today to look at some household stuff, due to the lack of space in the kitchen decided to get a washer dryer in one. I haven't bought one yet but what are people's opinions?

Does it work? Family think it's a bad idea because it doesn't actually dry clothes. (thats what they said)

    Cheerz in advance

I can assure you mate that your family are right, they are fucking pish. I had one at my last place (Indesit) and it took about an hour to dry one pair of boxer shorts (large size if you must know) Definately go for just a washer.

Get seperate's Indiset make good quality washers and White knight make the best dryers, try to get a condenser dryer, saves all the dust and doesnt steam your house up.

I am sorry, but I think you are wrong. Get a GOOD washer dryer, a known brand like Bosch, Miele etc and they work very well. There is a lot of crap out there, Whirlpool, Indesit two name a couple.

Your the first person I've heard praising them. Coin Op I think it was asked a similiar question last year and I think the general concensus was they were pish.

It's usually cos they will only dry a half load that people think they're shite.
They're usually rated at something like 6kg wash and 3kg dry capacity so you have to dry the load in 2 sittings.

Seperates are the way to go if you're planning on using the dryer a lot as it's a ballache taking half a wet load out to dry the other half and repeat again later.

Saying that tho I bought a Fagor FUS6116 washer/dryer, mainly for the 5 year guarantee this year, with no complaints yet.

If you MUST get one, go for an AEG, highly rated by Which as the best performer. Still wont be as good as seperates though.

I've had several and they are great, as to the comment about get a separate "condenser" drier? that's exactly what the combi's are and so pointless. If you have room for a separate non condensing "vented" drier they are certainly able to take bigger loads.
By all means buy a decent one, you get what you pay for.

If you've managed this long without one, do you really need one ?

We've just replaced our knackered washer/drier with a decent washer only. The main reason was the drier had only been used twice in the last year.

While we're talking about dryers I've got a whinge about the retarded energy rating they give these things....
I used to have an old one that had a piss-poor energy rating but would get a bunch of towels dry in about 20 mins. My new 'greener' one takes for farking ever. Surely it should be given a rating for how quick it gets the job done, not how much leccy it user per hour?!

Anyway, apart from that the AEG stuff is tops, don't get the bottom of the range stuff as it's electroux shite, you can tell the good stuff as it's the ones they give 5 years warranty for.
