First thing before you try find best place to buy is to know what you want and tbh from wha tI've seen I'd steer well clear of LG, compared to others the pic quality just isn't up there. Have a look in a decent audio/visual shop that will set it up for you and you can test with ps3/xbox/dvd's that you'll watch and see which one looks best. Then find where's cheapest.

my mate picked up that exact model from currys on sat for £549 10 months interest free. don't get suckered in to buying an hdmi cable with it... they'll try to con you for £55 when you can pick them up for under a fiver.

lg/phillips are actually the world's #1 panel maker. they supply toshiba, sony, dell, hp, apple, panasonic etc. samsung is a close second with sharp 3rd. virtually any lcd tv on the market will use one of these 3 brands for their panels...

    Check out Which? online.
You can subscribe for a £1 and then unsubscribe once you have your info if your tight like me.
Panasonic is the name that keeps cropping up over and over from online reviews and Magazines and they hog all the top spots on which? reviews.
There are also reasonably good buyers guides on thier website.

You cannot beat a pz panasonic, well impressed withit. the son in law has a samsung and the colours are weird, watching simpsons the black looks green. And my best mate has an LG and again the blacks look faded/greyish. I would do a bit of research and visit your local currys or comet as you can mostly see the tv's in action.

Also just to add when i worked at a local retailer we had a sony bravia come back for repair and the engineer from our place took it to bits, the screen was made by samsung so even if you get something like a sony - you dont allways get what you think you are getting

IMO judging a tv from 'what my m8 has' is always a risky business. All of these modern TVs have such a range of setup options that it would be easy to make an excellent set look/sound shite

As I have said in another thread I bought 2 of the £349 LG sets that PC world are advertising for £349.

Mine looked great and the sons looked shite. When Ichecked he had the backlight turned up to far which lightened all the blacks and wrecked the contrast. I dropped the backlight, and adjusted the brightness instead. Top result on 360 and Virgin V+ HD

I got my 50" Samsung from Pixmania a couple of month back. It is the fucking bomb, probably the best thing I have ever bought. When I first bought it the missus went mental and everyone said I was an idiot for going so big. Anway, 2 months on I wish I had got a 60"+ you get used to them so easy. Sky HD and the 360 is immense through it.
Was only £622 as well using discount codes. 720p/1080i but in all seriousness, who gives a shit when you are sat 10 foot away and you don't own any 1080p sources?

I was in either Currys or Comet on xmas eve and saw them trying to upsell someone by telling them one hdmi cable wouldn't do 1080p but the more expensive one would....

lmao fuckin con artists. It's a digital signal. It doesn't need a better quality cable as the signal can't degrade...

it's coz the sales staff actually make comission on the cables in some places. Selling someone a £2 cable for £50 probably makes them just as much profit as the TV the customer is walking away with too...

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/130508

    Under £4, supports 1080p.

lol Comet are rip off merchants. Currys are just as bad, won't Pricematch Dixons either so I just gave my iPod Nano purchase the other week to Amazon.
