My missus had her car broken into ,by some wanker's a couple of days ago well the door was forced and the window the driver's side window must have smashed when they where trying to force it open so id imagine they ran off ! its a old 1.4 1994 automatic corsa loverly thing tbh full service history rescent cambelt change ,got off the phone from the insurance people they said it would be a right off as the repair would cost more than its worth ,her excess is 100 quid damage and they said they would get back to us about the there offer they said they would give us the book price ,prob is i insured it for 500 quid so why would they not pay that out minuss the excess? surley its wrong ! its only worth 140 quid book price so im looking at getting back 40 quid after the excess no point loseing her no claims nine years
what do you think i should do , i bought a go bettween car for 150 quid off my bro who is a car dealer its a 1988 very good conditon 1.6 escort 79000 miles with a few months tax and mot ,should i just scrap the other car or is there anyway to get more money from the insurance company?

Is the corsa a low mileage minter? If so I would try to find a comparable example and push for that kind of money. Remember they will be doing the same so basically find the upper and lower ends that people are asking for your car - if there is a substantial difference between the £140 then it may be worth persuing. Otherwise I wouldn't report it if possible and get a door from a scrapyard if it's fixable.
