Default Reccomend me a digital/DVD recorder

Since my trusted old video recorder is almost on its last legs i thought it was about time i invested in a digital freeview HD/DVD recorder, any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

The hit list of what the unit must be able for is as follows.

    Digital freeview
    twin tuner
    250GB HD
    DVD recorder

All the usual pause time scale all that and everything.

    Best regards

OK after a bit of googling i found this Humax PVR-9150T 160GB Digital TV Recorder.sold at a reasonable price at an argos or comet near you.

Big question now.... is it possible to ad a DVD recorder to this unit ?

I thought it would be easier to ask questions regarding this unit and applications here rather than pulling my own teeth asking the same question in argos/comet.

    best regards

After a lot of searching this week it seems you have to be careful regarding twin tuners, i thought i had found the perfect machine (Toshiba RD98DT) which states it has a twin tuner. I was thinking twin meaning two digital tuners but it seems one tuner is analogue and one digital, this kinda defeats the obect since analogue will soon disapear.

Anyone know of a machine that is purely just digital ? with twin tuner facility.

Not seen many DVD versions with a twin digital tuner, you need to drop DVD Recorder from your spec.

I am looking for a new one after my DVD drive died, would be nice if you could get something like the DVX382H / DVX392H but allowed you to record on the USB drive.

I'm in the market too, BOB, so please will you post your honest assessment and opinion on your new acquisition in due course?

    Much obliged.

I have the older PVR 9200T. Bought a few years ago, and without doubt well worth the money.
I have relation's who have had many variants of other mfr's, with dvd writers etc... None have been even close to as good as these units are.

I eventually went for the TVonics DTR-Z500 and an excellent choice it has been too, totally silent in both standby and operation. It appears, from a small circular vent at the rear, to have a fan but I have yet to hear it!

A minor gripe is that it sometimes reboots for no apparent reason and if this reboot occurs whilst it is starting a recording it gets its nether garments in a tangle and has to be unplugged, but their help-line says that this is a known issue and due to a sudden signal drop and is being addressed in a software update.

Otherwise it's absolutely fine, and the "Alternate Recording" feature is magic. If you try to programme three events at the same time, it not only advises you that you're doing it but it also lets you know if one or more of those three is broadcast at another time and then allows you to select them automatically without having to hunt through the EPG!

I can recommend this machine to you, even with the reboot bug as that is being fixed.
