    Default College and Photography

I was thinking about going to college to do "Digital Photography (Introduction)" The course is £250 but i wouldnt have to pay for it so there is no issue with cost. Personally i want to do photography as a hobby, i cant afford any decent kit. ive got a Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd 10MP so that should do me for a beginner.

Is the course worth doing or could i easily learn as quick if not quicker by reading tutorials online?

Anyone done one of these courses?

I did a similar course with the Open University and would recommend it because it takes you through all the stages from taking photographs to analysing them and improving them using photoshop elements (which is included in the course price) You may be able to apply for a cost saving too if you qualify. Here is the link if you want to have a look

Just to add, I only used a canon compact camera for most of the course until I got a DSLR near the end so you don't need expensive equipment.

I think it would be worthwhile.

All the information is on the net but I think it easier to learn things when somebody is talking you through and actually shown you how to do it rather than just reading and looking a pictures. Plus there is the benefit of asking when you don't understand how or why something is done.

as/as2 course would probably be better ,also there is a btec course that runs to level 3 and culminates in a media photography course ,once youve done the btec you could quite easily go for a hnc .

almost any course that gets you in a room full of like minded people will do you good. I did a city and guilds last year which was aimed at beginners but as the class went on we all pretty much cought onto the basics really quickly which allowed the tutor (who was brilliant) to let some of us expend ourselves a little. Go for it, you have nothing to loose.
