    Default AVCHD's for PS3 use

Thought we could make a thread of new and classic stuff we've tried and works fine in the ps3

I'll start off with what I've had so far.

These are all from the newsgroup alt.binaries.hdtv.x264

Bladerunner Final Cut 1080p Video 9 Audio 9
    filename ps3avchd.presents.Blade.Runner.Final.Cut.1080p.ac3.avchd.iso

The Fifth Element (Remastered) 1080p Video 8 Audio 7
    filename ps3avchd.presents.Fifth.Element.Remastered.1080p.ac3.avchd.iso

    Total Recall 1080p Video 7 Audio 8
    filename Total Recall 1080p.iso

The shining 720p might be of interest to some, downloaded if from newsgroups about a week ago (mkv), ran it through TsMuxer and the end result looked stunning for a film as old as i am

    Heres the link

    http://www.newzleech.com/posts/?p=114194

I know this aint a Avchd, but it only takes 5 minutes to make it into one, and as its not available on ps3avchd...

Sorry to take this off topic, are you downloading things from newsgroups that are ready to play on the PS3 and don't need any messing? If so what are you searching for as i've just grabbed 8 720p films this weekend and i'm playing via a Laptop into my TV so i'm missing out on the 5.1 etc

my ng provider has a really good search page, i tend to search with the terms 'avchd iso' . My provider auto unrars iso's for me so i can download the iso rather than rars. It's a big d/l (over 7GB) but works fine burned to any old cheap dvd+r dual layer disc.

dont think the isos get recognised as playable content if you put them on the hard drive, I think you can extract them and convert the streams to a playble format (m2ts) but have found no consitency on that yet.

oopssss!!! quote the wrong damn post, silly me, I meant to quote h4ssan's post.

if you use daemon tools to take apart the iso into files then put them on the hard drive does that work?

What I do is open the ISO in ISOBuster, then extract the m2ts file from BDMW\STREAM.

The m2ts file will be called 0001.m2ts.

Once extracted, I copy the file over to the PS3 using TVersity.

Note: The PS3 wont play DTS so I tend to go for the AC3 1s.

you can also stream from wmp11 if u rename the file extension (m2ts) to avi, weirdly.

It will play DTS if the ISO is burnt to disk but if you've got a m2ts from a DTS source and u try to play that eaither via streaming or from the PS3 hard drive you wont get no sound.

I found out after downloading 4 films all around 18 gig in size and all bloody DTS!

Well it a piece of piss of you grab AC3 AVCHDs or MKVs. For the MKVs I use MKV2VOB to convert them to m2ts. MKV2VOB will also convert DTS MKVs to AC3 m2ts.

But reading the thread about the Popcorn Hour I think i'll get one of those.
