Hitachi 79FL flashing

How easy are these to flash. I remember that you had to remove the chip etc.

Does anyone have an update to tutorial on how to do it.

Is it straight forward like flashing a benq or do you need to do other things etc.

No need to remove the chip or use a passkey now,there's an unlock disc to allow this version to be flashed,search on xbox scene forum's and all will be revealed there.

Although the CK3 tool might be able to unlock it without a need for the unlock CD

i think you can use the ck3 tool or dos MODE_B.EXE to get these in mode b now

Like I said up there, have a look at a well written tutorial which includes using SLAX for the 78/79 Drives.

so basically i can use ModeB.exe in Windows, then use Jungleflasher along with 79unlock to read firmware and write ixtreme. Miss not being able to play backups kinda tempted to flash to 1.4 then update when 1.5 comes out.

its dead easy mate... let someone know we can give you a talk thought.. you need to download slacs and the unlock disc. no point buying a ck3 kit just for this the discs are just as easy but the 1.5 is around the corner might be worth waiting

well just done the hitachi, piss easy.

used jungleflasher to put it in mode b, rebooted, clicked eject on jungleflasher put in 79unlock cd, loaded it, then used maximus firmware toolbox to read key and make a hacked one.

ive done about 2 sammys, 3 benqs and 1 hitachi. im sure i can do a lite on at somepoint.

that was from end of Dec. haven't seen an update.

Quickly scanned the pages and my brain read 1.5 against all versions, but eyes actually read 1.4 against hitachi. Just checked xbins and no movement there either although a new version is reported for this month
