Iphone Activation / Unlock

Hi guys looking for some help, i have managed to pick up a second hand iphone 3g it is on firmware 2.2 i have managed to jailbreak it using quickpwn but i can unlock it it says waiting for activation and when u try to select a service it says its a restricted network. I have read through hundreds of post and its driving me mad!!!! have i just bought a really expensive ipod or is there anything i can do, Just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

heres a good start

if it works with a proper O2 sim it has been activated already.

to unlock, make sure it is firmware 2.2 and jailbroken (quickpwn on PC), then add the yellowsn0w source in cydia and run it. this will activate and unlock.

edit: also you may want to do a restore from DFU mode if above doesnt work

have tried that mate, i am starting to think the phone is blacklisted

Just a quick update, look like i have been stung took the phone to a local shop to see if they could unlock it to any network and was told that the imei was blocked, is there anything i can do before i contact *bay

No, it's blocked on all UK networks
