Default Is it worth 'changing' my XBox, if I enjoy Live?

I really need to find out all the Pro's and Con's before I go ahead and do this.

The obvious Pro for doing it is you can source games from everywhere (pretty good reason!).

    Things I consider against.
Will work on XBox live, but is detectable and they can ban your XBox for it. Even if you change it back to the original drive/firmware, it's still banned. (Yes?)
Need to open it up, thus voiding any warranty (no biggy as mine's recently had the new type Mobo put in it and hopefully shouldnt RROD again).

I quite enjoy XBox Live and want to hear from anyone who has changed their box and still managed to stay on it without getting banned.

I'm under the impression they ban the Serial and the MAC... Fixable?

I'm on live with no problems just make sure you only play games that are on the database of abgx and that everything verifies in it

As for unbanning it forget it it's alot easier to get another 360

Don't count your chickens that your new type motherboard won't RROD as they still do but don't worry just clean the sticker marks off and send it back to ms

The chance i may get banned and lose live is the main reason i wont flash my 360, single player bores the hell out of me, online is where it's at.

Just get it done the pros far outweigh the cons.

If you get banned just sell console and get another. The money you will save will more than pay for a new console.

4-5 legit games = new xbox anyway, so you're saying loads anyway!

    The almighty Prezzy has spoken.

Listened to loads of your advice. The Elite I got... worth doing it to it? Only really cost me £107 all in I suppose. Live is OK, but I do keep getting slaughtered by people on it! lol

I'm gonna give it a go after the missus has finished watching her film on it! I'll give you a shout when I take the plunge. I think it's a Lite-on drive BTW. White wire 'in the hole'

Probably wrong though, I think, when I checked, it was the easier one to do.

Don't do it. It'll kill your gaming. I found myself downloading every game out. Playing it for half and hour then tossing it on the redundant pile and sticking the next one on. Where's the enjoyment or sense of achievement in that?

How many games do you have on the go at once? 1, 2 or maybe 3? Just finish one and swap it at blockbusters.

Right, I'm off. Got teh thing apart, Drive out.

I'm guessing I dont need a 'CK3' as in the tutorial, I can just use the power from the XBox and plug the drive into my PC instead?

The Xbox wont load, but that wont be a problem will it? It'll just moan it cant find the drive until I plug it back in?

Agreed, I've done that before. You just gotta have self control. Right now i could download Skate 2 simply because i liked the demo...but only play it for 10 minutes and never touch it again. And for that, i'm not getting it untill I want to. I hardly game at the moment, room needs rearranging for the huge bastards that are the Ion drums!

Windows won't recognise it mate. Its purely done using ports and the benq's stock firmware doesn't work in windows.

You can flash in Windows using the Jungleflasher program, but with having the turn the drive on/off your pc might not like it. My advice, get Iprep and do it all in dos!

The only disadvantage I can think of is you spend too much time playing xbox because you have too many games that you can't play through.

Also its good to convince your mates to do it as well (if they are not total retards) since it then means you have shed loads of games to play on xbox live but they don't cos they too expensive to buy loads. My mates are too thick to flash there ones so I would have to do it for them which is a lot of effort and they get scared the nancy fairys.

Really easy to do it in dos with iprep, only hard part I found was opening the case without snapping it in half.
