Any experience with Chinese motorcycles?

Anyone got a chinese bike, the misses is looking at doing her test but wants a bike to practice on, I was thinking about one of the 125 trailie things on ebay for about £600 but have no idea what sort of quality they are, obvioulsy it aint gonna win any MX races but for that price if it lasted long enough for her to pass her test we'd take it out and thrash it round the fields till it died

i know someone that sells chinese imports,
the quality has got better (still pretty poor on some bikes - yet ok on some others)

usually they only offer 6 month parts only warrenty and no service backup - if its still going in 6-12 months time then it will cost you money to get rid of it!!


i would spend the cash on a second hand CG125, SR125 or something like them,
at work we recently sold a w plate, ex-training SR125 for £250. nothing wrong with it apart from looking a bit tired.

I think it was watchdog that did a short piece about Chinese import bikes. Some of them were so bad that they shouldn't be on the road. I'd stick to a cheap second hand bike and not the Chinese rubbish

There are a lot of Chinese motorcycles brands out there, some of them are pretty good and cheap, but you need to know how to pick. I'm not sure what brand you are referring to, some brands/models are only available in China.

The one I was considering on Ebay was the 125cc Shineray GY'
Ideally were looking for a 125 trail/enduro type bike.
