Default Could I capture a programme I've recorded on my Sky box?

Could I use my ipod or something similar?

I would like to make a copy and send it, via email/web, to a relative abroad (the BBC's iplayer, where one can watch previously aired shows, does not work outside of the U.K.).

I know that traditionally one would record a DVD, but I'd like to utilise technology further, and not to have to queue up for an hour in the Post Office!

    Thanks.

The only way to do it it to use a TV capture card to get it onto the PC then use converting software to change it to an mp4 file.

It really is easier to record a DVD and send it.

Oh and its normal forum protocol to post an introduction before asking long standing members for specific help!

The best way to capture anything is in a net.

If it's TV stuff try UKNova. It has tons of good stuff from TV. Your need torrents to be able to download anything via the site though.

UKNova useful bit of info to store for future reference and use.

Eventually the USB slot on the back could be exploited to put files onto an external drive or USB stick the sky engineer told me but then again with copyright etc i see lots of potential problems!!

Well not really as its highly likely to be in a raw encrypted format thats only viewable via your Sky+ box's decoder and linked to your sub.
