Airport protesters delay flights


Protesters broke through the perimeter fence


Flights to and from Aberdeen Airport are being delayed as a result of a security breach.
Protesters from the Plane Stupid group have placed themselves inside a "wire fortress" on the tarmac after breaking through a perimeter fence.
Police said two protesters were on the roof of the terminal building and seven were on a helicopter taxiway.
Airport operator BAA said the airport was not closed but flights were being affected by the protest.
Flights to Heathrow, Paris and Amsterdam have been affected, a spokesman said.
Grampian Police said the protest began just after 0330 GMT.
'Airport expansion'
Plane Stupid said its protesters had dressed in the style of property tycoon Donald Trump, who is backing the expansion of the airport after his plans to build a luxury golf resort in the area were approved.
A banner has been draped across the front of the terminal building, close to the BAA Aberdeen sign, which says "Nae Trump games with climate change".
"We're here to say the expansion cannot happen, and our generation won't let it happen," said Dan Glass, from Glasgow. The BAA spokesman said: "This action is dangerous and highly irresponsible, not least because Aberdeen is one of Europe's busiest commercial heliports and a major transport centre for the north of Scotland." In December last year Plane Stupid activists caused disruption at Stansted Airport in Essex by occupying the runway.

this has really angered me

both the completely twatty nature of the people who disapprove of airports, the cunts who live near this particular one (all in houses built after it was, bought by scummy shites thinking they could get a cheap deal - until very recently they had managed to get the airport to enforce opening hours! at an airport! just so they'd get some peace and quiet in houses they bought next to an international airport)

the police taking about 10 hours to arrest 14 people was a complete cock up too

i hope they throw the book at these guys to stop anything like this happening again
