    Default Embedded/Clickable Images

    Hi Rap,

Dunno if this is because of the forum upgrade, but embedding clickable images in posts no longer seems to work.
If I use the code provided by the image host, I get either an empty placeholder (although the placeholder is clickable and will redirect to the image), or it displays the thumbnail in the post....but clicking on it simply brings up the thumbnail again at the hosts end instead of the full size image.

Similarly, embedding the image using the direct URL results in just the URL being displayed instead.

Something you may want to address when you have finished sorting out the rest of the modifications.

Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

I have noticed urls without www. refusen to phase but I have a feeling this has been introduced to counter exploits, some url's you can add the www. and still get the same result, not sure if this is the problem you are getting though.

    Hi BB,

No mate, that's not the problem I get.
Both the posts I made where I wanted to embed the image are in VIP, and neither have the www in the URL.

The forum was working as expected very shortly after the upgrade where clickable images are concerned that lead to sites such as imagehost, it just seems to have stopped working in the last couple of days or so.

    PS

Just tried it with an image that has a normal URL (ie, not an image hosting site), and image embedding works fine.
It just seems to fook up when you link to image hosting sites such as imagefap, etc.

Hmmm yeah it clicks to the bigger version of itself. Must be the resize hack.

What are you talking about ? It works perfect ! (Pic hosted at Imageshack - no www either)

You can click on it and it will expand to fit your screen size - and if its bigger you can click the top left + icon and expand it to its actual size. Whats the problem ?

I have edited one of the posts I made in VIP (post ID 438340). Clicking on the thumbnail should redirect you to the full size image, instead it redirects you to the thumb.

I don't think it is a Messyshare issue, as using the same code on other forums takes you to the full size image.

I've just checked the post I edited to include the clickable thumbnail, and instead of redirecting to Messyshare to display the fullsize image, it now opens the image in the DF viewer.....however it still only shows the thumbnail as opposed to the fullsize image.

    The post is at http://www.digital-forums.com/showthread.php?t=438340

one other thing i've just noticed. after you viewed an image, and you click "close", it takes you to the bottom of the thread, and also makes the "forum jump" bar active so if you scroll up (using the mouse) you suddenly jump to a different section.

look at one of bilbo's pics in the photography section for an example

    using IE7 (at work)
