Couple of questions first:

Oh dear, I had a funny feeling that it was going to be!

There are renowned problems with these unfortunately "pal". It was a factory fault in the wiring loom that never got a recall (but bloody well should have ). Had one myself a few years back but with the Sports Cruviste model (based on the European Omega Vamoos editon). Still we should be able to get it sorted for you.

There's a couple of ways that can get it sorted so start by trying this:

1. Turn the ignition key on so that all dash lights are illuminated (but don't turn the engine over!). Using the indicator stalk follow the following sequence: up to top, down to middle, then up to top again, then down to bottom(not stopping in the middle!), up to middle, then up again, then straight down to bottom. Then turn the ignition back off but DO NOT remove the key. Wait roughly 4 minutes, then repeat another 2 times. Turn the ignition all the way on and hey presto the stereo should come on.

Let me know how it goes as this is by far the easiest method.

That doesn't always work, I had to counter-rotate the gear lever at the same time and then it was OK.
