It's easy to upgrade if you follow the guide in the first post. What version of Navcore & what map version have you got now ?

Tap screen on the GPS bars (bottom right) - will see a box showing your Version Number - tap in this box & will get new page up with more info - including your DeviceID & the map name & version number.

You've got 2 choices for updating, you can either use a S/E version (already patched) & then you can use the v850.2781 map with the IQ routes & ALG - see first post for v8.204 Navcore. It is possible that this version may not work 100% on your unit - the only way to find out is to try it.
Or you can use Tomtom home to update to the latest official navcore - v7.903, then patch the ttsystem file on your Tomtom, then you can use the v850.2820 map.
You will need to activate the map for both methods.
Also add the v850 postcode files posted in this section.

The second method is really easy Russ, follow the guide & use the activation tool. As long as you make a full back up copy first you can always restore it back to it's original state.

The first method may not work 100% on a Tomtom One, but the second method will work 100% on any Tomtom unit.

i`ve tried this many times and not got it right. i`ve got a TT one v3. i can`t update to navcore 8.204 . when i try to put it on it tells me there is not enough space. it must half go on because i can use it through tomtom home. then i can`t get the v850 map on because there is not enough room. WTF am i doing wrong ?
i can`t update the navcore through TT home to v7.903, it stays on 7.163. its getting on my nerves lol

What is the total memory size on your Tomtom ?
Try deleting everything & start from scratch - then either add the v8.204 navcore from first post & then add v850 UK postcode files & the v850.2781 UK & RoI map & then activate the map. Or use Tomtom Home to update to v7.903, then patch your ttsystem file then add v850 UK postcode files & the v850.2820 UK & RoI map & then activate the map.

i tried that, i think its only 512mb memory. i`ve tried all sorts to update to 7.9 but TT home just won`t update to it.
i must be doing something wrong. i only want to update the map, as it hasn`t been updated since i bought 2-3 years ago. not even that bothered about the lane guidance tbh

Found a copy of a pre- patched TT One V3 navcore v7.903 here -
    Code:

    password - yDG

Think you might need to add voice files for this one.
So what do I need to do with this then? I need a truly idiot proof guide to even consider trying!

Make a full back up copy first Russ - I'm not `100% sure but I think you should be able to copy all the files onto your Tomtom & overwrite the existing files. Try it & let us know how you get on. If it dooesn't work - delete everything EXCEPT for folders named Voices, Zip & your Map folder - then add the new v7.903 files.
If it still works you'll then need to add new postcode files v850 (in folder named 'zip') & new map folder v850.2820 - delete your old map folder first - don't ovewrite any files in old map folder. The see first post on how to activate the map.

Probably a stupid question but here goes.... I have just updated my Tomtom Go 730 with the new v850.xxx map and used Alberts tool (oower) to patch the map etc... I have also copied across the new Zip folder for postcodes... However, my tomtom is a IQ and ALG enabled (from factory) do i need to re-enable these 2 features or will they just carry on working??? Kind regards Jon Oh and many thanks again for the new map!!!!!

Depends on which v850 map you used - some have IQ routes & ALG & some maps dont have these features.

Which v850.**** map did you try using ?
Did you get any error messages when you tried to activate it ?

v850.2820 will work with Navcore v7.9**
v850.2781 will only work with Navcore v8.204 & higher
