    Question Domain price

A friend has been approached by a legit company wanting to buy a .co.uk domain he no longer uses. He does not want to take the Mick but neither does he want to give it away. I've checked and none of the more favourable suffixes are available.
Any suggestions? I'm thinking he should ask for offers but have a clear idea of the realistic value. , I just don't know what that should be.

It really depends on the name, and whether the people offering to buy it have a "right" to the name (i.e. mcdonalds.com). Does your friend have the "right" to the name, other than the fact he bought it? Trouble is these days the companies can take you to court (or nominet) and the name can be taken away for nothing if its deemed you have no "right" to it. I'd let them make him an offer. I mean if he owned (for example) sex.com, he could be a millionaire, its too grey an area to give an exact price. Knowing the name of the domain AND the people trying to buy it might help.

He bought it years ago and used it (dbstudios) so it's not a brand name in any sense.

I'd of thought you should be asking at least £1k for this domain. Maybe more! Unless they have a trademark on Dbstudios which would mean that he'd have to be careful because they could simply just take this domain off him.
