Tech Done the softmii but how do I boot games?

Just spent about 3 hours doing the softmii install last night had major problems with the twilight hack but later found it was just the SD card I was using wasnt formatted properly.. everything seemed to go ok after that and it all looks like its installed- I chucked in a backup game afterwards and well nothing? it doesn't show up in the disk channel at all - or am i supposed to boot it from within the homebrew channel somehow?

Did you follow a tutorial for the install, and if so, which one?

Back up games wont load from the normal disc channel, you need to use either the back up channel, or gecko os, which can be launched from the homebrew channel.

this is doing my head in now - my wii starts up but just to the warning thing about not buying the software then goes to the homebrew channel install app where I have a choice of installing the homebrew channel or canceling if I install it (its already installed anyway) it goes through the motions then restarts back at the beginning wanting to install again if I refuse and cancel the install it restarts back at the same thing again - is there no way to reset the bloody thing?
its looking like I`ve bricked me sons wii now and i thought it was supposed to be idiot proof - i wouldn't mind everything seemed to go ok and all the software seemed to install as per the softmii tutorial but when I couldn't get the backups to run i played around with the preloader program and changed the setting for it boot from file (I thought maybe it saw the backup disk as a file) and now Im stuck with a wii in a permanent cycle of installing the homebrew channel - not good!

ok I got out of the loop thing just had to hold reset while booting the wii up and I`ve managed to get back to the normal wii screen (phew) think I might just try and delete everything I`ve done so far and restart using the tutorial on here..

No need - if you have normal access, grab the files from my tutorial, and just install the gamma 0.3 loader through the .wad installer. It'll create a backup channel for you.

There was issues with Madworld, maybe with ready to rumble as it's new also?

If you've followed the Softmii install correctly you should just be able to boot the game via the disk channel. Set preloader to boot to system menu then ensure you have the correct hack.ini(the settings in the guide work fine).

Edit: Just had a check for you mate, it seems the way to get Madworld working is to install the latest cIOS rev8, I think the softmii site has an update for cIOSCORP on their site with the latest cIOS patched in, then boot the game from Gamma/Softchip.

Softmii has an issue which means Madworld black screens when loading via the disc channel.

If you've got one game working, then at least you know the install was successful. Search google for Wii Loader Compatibility, some games work better than others

What media are you using? So far, I've never had trouble with any brand, so long as they've been DVD-R, not +. Many reports of people burning and playing both successfully, so might be just a case of finding the right discs for you. Get some verbs from Neo, they never let you down!

yeah I the problem seems to have been I was using +Rs I bought some dvd-r today and so far everythings worked - I now understand how it all works etc and have got it all loaded in a very simplified form so the backups just launch from the disk channel (easier for the kiddies that way)
Thanks for everyones help on here - I might have a mess around with some wad games now (are there any decent ones out there?)
