NDSi R4 cartridge.

Just a heads up really.

I had a quick search about and there's not much regarding this, and just wanted to ensure people are aware the New NDSi now runs homebrew etc.

Same as any other NDS with an R4 or clone.

There was a post in the DealExtreme Offers forum with a mention of the new R4i cartridge, but only when I got an email from Memory Bits did I realise what it was.

Well that didn't take long did it! Not released yet and already hacked! There is also talk that existing cards may be made NDSi compaitible too.

Just got the Acekard2 thru from Dealextreme. Only using it on my DS until the DSi comes out next week, but it loads GTA in about 2 seconds

Nice menu layout as well.

Cheers DJ Overdose, never even knew about this. Good Post. Theres talk of nintendo using firmware updates so it will be a cat an mouse game between ninty and the hackers, if there anything like sony to go by, there should be no worrys

Thing is, how much do Nintendo really want to stop the flash cart makers?

Wonder how many of their console sales are due to the "forth revolution" ;-)

There maybe a firmware update with the new UK, EUR and USA releases, but after that why would they bother?

Also got to look at the iPhone scenario, they did try their hardest to stop the hackers, but they lost that battle, eventually they will just accept it I would say. Same as Nintendo will.

How are they going to get this firmware update? From a new game cart? Well no-one will buy any if their NDSi is hacked! From the internet? Surely a blocker will be made to stop that...

I'm sure after full worldwide launch, any flash cart will be here to stay.

Apparently on GBATemp the ak2i is confirmed to work on the Aus DSi but doesn't work on the EU DSi...

Bugger. Sure it won't be long tho ;-)

Yep theres only 1 official R4 cart. The other 345353 are all fake.

IIRC The OFFICIAL R4 team packed it all in ages ago. That's why there's no updates for them any more, and you have to use fudged software to make them play some newer ROMs.

im not 100% sure but I think I read that the DSi specific titles were region locked, not sure if this is defeated by using a flashcard, probably someone in the know on gba temp though.

Normal DS games will be fine either way.
