Default BeBox internal file transfer speeds... Simple Q.

Hiya chaps I'm using bethere for my ISP and have just shared an external USB driver over my network to another mac.

The transfer speeds for files seems pretty crap. Am i right in thinking that this is due to the wireless routers speed? (BeBox)

Would it go any faster if the too Mac's were hard wired to the router rather than connecting wirelessly?

    Cheers,

Mac wireless speed is about half what you'd expect in my experience. I suspect its because we're restricted to 2.4 mhz while the macs are made to US spec at 5 mhz.
Anyway lots of people moan about it, have a look around!

EDIT: My previous router was a spanking new, top of the line 802N and it's through using that that I found out about the 2.4 - 5mhz thing, the mac problem is pure supposition on my part.

Further, when I'm moving big files I hard wire it to the router.

    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

Cheers for the info I'll grab a couple of network leads and see if that speeds things up.
