Photos Taking Pics at an Art Exhibition

    Hi guys

I'm going to an Art Exhibition tonight and I'd like to get some decent pics. Since I bought my Nikon D50 I've not done much with it so I'm very rusty on the controls. I came out this morning with just the camera and the kit lens. So no tripods or filters.

Can anyone shoot some tips my way. Would appreciate it

    Cheers

If you allowed flash then no problem. Shoot on manual, shutter at 160 and aperture as you see fit but would probably go for around 7.1 with a kit lens. The good thing is you can hopefully have a practice on one piece to nail it.

Thanks Bert. I'd have though the flash will be ok. Will check when I get there.

I'm a bit scared of fully manual. Should I go for Aperture priority or Shutter?

You could go aperture pririty but full manual will be fine cos you are sticking with the 160 for your shutter speed and then just frigging about with the aperture to get the depth of field you require but you tend to find best sharpness anything round f/9.0 or at least on my lenses that seems to be the sweetspot for sharpness.

Simple, use the thumbwheel for shutter, and if you hold the +/- button to the right of the timer mode button whilst turning the wheel you can adjust the aperture
