The youth, who was 15 when he carried out the sex attack and who cannot be named because of his age, will also spend two years on probation when he is released for a crime which has left the victim suffering from post-traumatic stress.
Craigavon Crown Court, sitting in Belfast on Friday, heard the youth initially claimed the sex was consensual.
When he finally admitted raping the woman, he told a probation officer "I am a monster".
Prosecutor Liam McCollum QC said the incident occurred in Colin Glen Forest Park on the outskirts of west Belfast on April 12 last year.
The tourist was enjoying a walk in the park when she was approached by the defendant who "struck up a conversation" with her.
She walked on but the youth followed, despite her asking him to leave her alone.
Mr McCollum said the youth's attitude then changed and he became aggressive and started speaking in lewd sexual language.
When the youth asked the woman if she 'liked sex outdoors' she started to panic.
He then told the woman he had a knife and threatened to stab her before dragging her down a path towards a hidden area.
Mr McCollum said the youth then "sexually assaulted in her in a number of ways".
During the sustained ordeal, the tourist was physically attacked by the youth who threatened to smash her face in with a rock. He also told her he "raped girls three or four times a day in these woods".
When she was examined after the attack, a doctor recorded 39 separate injuries including multiple bruises and abrasions to her neck and limbs.
Drug
The defendant presented himself voluntarily to a police station six days later.
He told police he had travelled from Dublin to Belfast on the day in question and had smoked five cannabis joints before carrying out the attack.
A defence barrister said his young client, who is now 16, was remorseful for his actions.
He said the teenager was not used to the effects of cannabis and was a "novice user" with a limited intellect.
He added the youth was "very ashamed of what he has done."
He added: "There is no evidence this young man is a predator. There is no evidence this was planned or pre-meditated.
"This appears to have been a spontaneous act conducted under a haze of drugs
