Apple 3G Fuzzyband Downgrader - Downgrade any baseband with a simple click of a button

This wonderful GUI Baseband downgrader was created by w1kedZ (coding) & DHowett (GUI). It is based on the exploit in the 5.08 bootloader found by geohotz. So yes you must have the 5.08 bootloader for this to work. The beautiful part about this tool is that it will check your bootloader for you.

    The way the tool works:

    1. It verifies your bootloader version and displays it before attempting to downgrade (won't attempt if bootloader isn't 5.08) so it is much safer than other methods.

    2. It detects current baseband version, and the patches accordingly...this means it will downgrade any baseband from 2.30 to 4.26.08 (beta 5)

It is available now on the BigBoss Repo. Look for 3G Fuzzyband Downgrader.

pardon my ignorance, but what does downgrading the baseband actually do?

    thanks in advance

How would i check what bootloader i am on before hand? Im on 2.2 firmware now and thinking about upgrading to 2.2.1 and then re-jailbreaking. Is this safe, or will it change the bootloader?

    thanks

Thanks - i did read that, but what i would like to know is more about the bootloader. For example, im on 5.08 now, but if i upgrade firmware to 2.2.1 what version will i be on then? When does the bootloader version get updated?

    Thanks

the bootloader is untouched by software updates. If you have a bootloader 5.08 then you have it forevermore.

Kracken, there's nowt in your picture that I can see that says you can't run this downgrader.

The downgrader is supposed to work fine with bb 4.26.08 - as long as you have bl 5.08 and after you have downgraded to 2.2.1

I just put this on my phone which was purchased on January 1st (from CPW not ebay so current stock at that time) and it showed 5.09 so it's unlikely many will benefit from this.

apparently 5.08 is the very first publicly released iphone 3G bootloader so will have been all the launch handsets and for a little while after and as I said isn't touched at all by any upgrade process... Whatever bootloader you have, you have for life..
