Update to latest UK maps but tomtom says no maps found!!!

Tried to update maps to:

TomTom.Maps.of.United.Kingdom.and.Republic.of.Ireland.v8.30.2306.Retail-T0nK4

Used the updater tool in stickies and appeared to all go through OK....

Upon firing back up the tomtom it boots but says no map found.

Any ideas?

Create a folder on the root of the SD card called "United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland" and extract the map into that, stick it in your TomTom and see if you can select the map. It may need activating before you can use it

Thats already there mate - the one in the release did differ but i noticed a .dat file on the root pointing to the map so put it in a dir of the same name - still same error...

I had the "no maps found" error once when I had two maps on the card, just removed the old maps and directory and it was fine.

There is only one maps dir on my memory card.

And to make things worse - I restored the files from a backup I created...

It now sees the map but thinks it isnt registered

Just use the keygen in the sticky at the top of the GPS forum to re-register it.

Get the 10 digit device code from the about page in settings, and make a new meta.dct file to put in the map folder with the Easytools keygen.

I'd managed to restore it back to a previous version - I have a nasty feeling the meta's have been screwed up for these releases as the meta number doesnt appear to run seqentially to the version numbers (not sure if they should).

if you download that keygen i posted, connect tom tom, run it and press create dct for maps. it will sort it

Just tried it and same error - got a nasty feeling there is a mix up of the meta's to the actual file coz on the release of the map it says meta-35 yet the file is -33.

been messing a while now Bodman with your proggy, and it only works with a original navcore from tomtom, and as I am using a cracked navcore 8.204 it will not see the 8.30 maps I have put on card!!

Can I just point out its actually not my program (see above) I cant unfortunatley take credit for it.

It does work with a hacked Navcore as im running 8.413.1237 on a Version 2 TomTom one

Maybe thats my problem, It wont see the 830 maps do I have to have cracked navcore 8.413 for the proggy to recognise the 830 maps? ttg 3000 BTW..

Well here is update on my problem,I have now managed to make lots of other 8.30 maps work greece/turkey etc, however it will not do the uk or the western europe 8.30 maps,this maybe a problem with maps however they are the tonka ones they do extract however comes up with error at end of extraction something about file name too long...but there is a map in the folder of the correct size, so have been trying to find a uk 8.30 that has been upped other than the tonka version...

Apart from the obvious (silly) answer, to move to another country...

I've only tried the 8.30 western europe map and that was fine. Maybe just use that, as it's just the UK plus Spain, France and Italy etc'.

Must be a faulty map. You could try d/l from other sources, but it may be the same for everyone. I'll look later and see if I can d/l and host somewhere if it works.

Further update... It would appear that the tonka version of downloadable maps uk/western europe I was getting from various torrent sites were indeed faulty, because I joined gpsunderground and d/l a map of there site and it extracted ok, and benitto's crack sorted it no probs, so to summerise I now have a tomtom go 300 with 8.204 / 8/400 firmware with 830.2305 maps all working good ( no lock ups etc )....
