Look up there, folks. That's the future of Sony's hopes and dreams in the handheld gaming sector. With just hours to go before the company's official E3 2009 press event, it looks like the pieces are all coming together. First a UMD-less game release, then a highly credible mole giving the PSP Go a name, and now -- live action shots. The images here were sourced from an obviously slipped June 2009 Qore video, and aside from giving us a look at the slider-based system, we're also told that it'll tout 16GB of internal memory, built-in Bluetooth and an undisclosed memory slot. If all goes well, it'll ship this Fall for a price to be determined, and it's actually not slated to replace the PSP-3000, as both of 'em will attempt to live on store shelves harmoniously... at least for awhile. Oh, and don't worry -- we'll be on hand in LA to bring you all the impressions we can muster early next week.

its a step back imo, who the hell designed that and thought it was nice looking. Still only one stick, would be very funny if the home brew works on it tho, or if not it gets cracked within a week of release

16gb of internal storage is nice but no UMD support will piss a lot of people off who actually bought the psp games or movies.

TBH I reckon this will fall flat on it face. Sony have lost the plot and dont listen to its customers.

No number of miniscule updates are going to save this outside japan.

The DS wins due to innovation and games written specifically for the interface it provides, In comparison the PSP joystiq nub is crap and needs to be updated, still like the bigger than ds d-pad.

hmm - if its smaller and has a better battery life than the original I might be interested in one of these - its ust to big to be carring around in my pocket like the DS is.

I agree. My only issue with the PSP at the moment is 4-5 hours between recharges and the size of it and looking at this they look to have improved on both.
Pulling the UMD will help the battery life, although as has been said above, what about people that currently have UMD's.
By giving it a slide out control panel it's reduced the size when not in use.

I quite like the new one, looks like they will be pushing it as a media player when it's closed and in that respect it looks very good.

personally i think £129 would be a lot for essentially the same console with less functionality.

It needs to be £100 to get people interested. Its not as if its building on a massive user base like nintendo are with the DS.

Add an apple sticker, functionality that people want and a design that makes sense and a price point that interests people then people will buy it.
