    Question Customs??

Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this?

I placed an order with Nengun Performace and it was shipped via EMS on the 4th of June and arrived in the UK on the 8th of June. Once in the UK it was transferred over to Parcel Force and since 5pm on the 8th it has been sitting saying "Awaiting Presentation to Customs Commissioner".

It's been 4 working days (5 if Saturday is a working day for customs??) and it hasn't moved at all. All it is, is an induction kit costing £115, so it's not anything overly big or expensive.

A few weeks ago I ordered a cable from the US costing $189 and it was sent via FedEx and arrived at my door withing 4 days or placing the order, was only in customs for a few hours, so why is this taking so long??

    Cheers!

They will be probably still be working out how much duty you have to pay
I had a car radio stuck for a week and then came with a £127 import duty bill when I questioned how it was worked out, they just looked at how much I paid and what it would cost in the uk decided what was a reasonable cost

£127?! Screw that!! It's only £150 in the UK, but I ordered it from Japan because no-where had any in stock at time of order, at this rate it would have been quicker & easier to get it from the UK.

On top of this customers are charged a 'clearance fee' by the courier, different firms vary but I think on average it's about £15

BB, yea have heard Parcel Force charge about £13 clearance/handling fee which is a bit of a rip-off!

With FedEx the customs was £21 and their handling fees were £5 which is much more reasonable.

I did have a search on the fee's but didn't find any clear information other than people moaning Royal Mail/Parcel Force raised their's from £4 to £8 in 2005

Feel mildly guilty that when I ordered something the other month and had it delivered to work that work paid the ~£20 duty/costs that were required. Not heard anything from them, yet...
