All the best on a quick and full recovery mate. I left a supermarket car park on my bike once and had 5 cars nearly colliding with me. The bike must have been magnetised! I don't think it is just motorbikes car drivers don't see, I get just the same arseholes pulling out on me when driving an 18ton lorry at work!

I stopped when I got a company car, but a couple of folks I know were killed around the same time (One was going to chat to me about buying my bike on the monday, but died on the sunday), which just about decided it for me.

On the upside, some dozy bint did a u-ey on me and I went right down the side of her car, writing it off. I picked my bike up and rode it home - gotta love the weight and bulk of a GT550

fuckin hell m8, as already said and u know u were so lucky, some people are just mental on the road, if the other person has already accepted liability then they will pay you for loss of earnings as you probably already know.

i was in a car crash about 16 months ago, in a car driving straight (i was passenger) a women came from a road to the right, but she was driving forwards and looking left and smashed right into the side of us, and its the first crash ive ever been in, and ive heard people say it sorta goes in slow motion, and fuck me that was SO TRUE, it was like a video on slomo it was really weird, anyway i really hurt my shoulder and my chest with the whip of the seatbelt.

but coz she accepted liability her insurence payed me direct and asked me if i was working at the time as theyd have paid me for any loss of earnings, i wasnt working, but ended up getting £1600 which was thier first offer.

I know if id have gone through one of them claim companies id have got twice that ( i know others who have) but i really didn't give a shit about getting more money and just accepted thier first offer so i could just put it behnd me.

So i know people can be so careless on the road m8, but on a bike its so different and im just glad and obviously you are that you wernt hurt more seriously or worse.

anyway m8 hope you have a speedy recovery, fuckin hurt ribs are a bastard and fuckin hurt like fuckin hell on earth.

good luck m8 and hope you have speedy recovery

Bloody hell mate. I'm so glad your spleen survived you should live in a bubble for the next 8 weeks.

Every summer I start buying motorcycle news & think seriously about getting a bike but then read of things happening that aren't down to the rider & it just puts me off. The most harrowing one was in a bike magazine & the writer was going on about how he ended up in a ditch almost unconscious & described how he made the decision to black out knowing he would most likely not wake up. Next thing his mate snapped him out of it & kept him talking till the ambulance arrived. Very sobering article.

    Get well soon

    well chaps,

still at home and in pain, and waiting for specialist doctors to see me
ortho, mental, and urologist as I've turned into old man who can't hold water

been told by solicitor that litigation period will take some time as insurance companies have 4 weeks to
respond to any letters etc. (which is not helping me as i'm not being paid while off work)

anyway at least i have DF and the interweb to try keep me sane while the kids are running mayhem around me

    Joe

p.s. i've put some leather gear in the B.S.T. section (hope it's ok to mention here)

    update:
I've had a letter from my solicitor today telling me the prick who hit me has now retracted his admission of liability....(we don't know how he can do that after he admitted under oath to the police at the scene)

the solicitor has said this will definitely go to court now

the missus has been in tears since we got the letter

really down now, gonna have loads of phone calls to make tomorrow
to try see what's going on

its standard practice, his insurer will tell him to deny liability ..

    not just standard practice.

If you check the small print of your insurance policy it often says admiting liability is against the terms and conditions, rendering you uninsured.

You then have to sue as if he never had insurance.

This happened to my brother when a drunk woman drove into the back of his very large tractor.

She admitted, insurance dropped her. he had to sue and got paid out of criminal injuries instead of her insurance.
