    Default First grown up camera..

Mine was the Zenith E (Bertroot has a pic of one in his gallery...) I had one in the 70's and hated it.. being manual it was such a pain to have to remember to stop it down before taking the shot.....
The next step was to a Practika super TL.. what a leap that was!! I used to process my Photo's in those days (in the bathroom with the wife standing outside with her legs crossed LOL).. I reckon that cameras still in the loft at the ex-wives gaff I had about 4 lenses too
I have recently returned to the hobby and am quite happy with my Sony Alpha A300 and a whole raft of accessories.
I am often so glad to be a member of DF where the the photography gurus dole out so much good advice it helps such a lot.. never had that back in the day...

Bought a second hand Canon 400D last week. Came with the bog std 18.55 lens kit.
Was worried I wasted my money, but at £205 I think I got a bargain!

nice to see a few more sony users on here, i was the only one for a while.

I havnt had much of a history with cameras (im sure this is a HUGE shock judging by how good my photography is...right?) having owned a few fuji digital compacts, starting with a 1mpix beast, I got my A100 and then A700. I've never used film which was a real shock to the old men at the camera club when I first started attending

yeah Sony buying Minolta (Minolta were always quality..) helped me make the jump to a not so obvious camera like a Canon or a Nikon.
I notice you said you have an A700.. I am upping an excellent e-book to my iDisk about using the A700 you might find useful .
I will leave it there for a week or so and PM you the link if that's OK?

    cheers

my first proper camera would have been a pentax me super back in the 80s with a couple of lenses if i remember rightly it would have been the 50mm f1.7 and a 70 150 ish zoom
then moved on to a minolta 7000i i loved that camera it was a quality piece of kit
next camera was a canon 1000 which to be honest felt like a cheap piece of plastic compared to the minolta but i have stuck with canon through the dslr era

iv'e had a few digital cameras through the digital age starting with a ricoh rdc 4300 ( nikon clone ) 1.3mp camera in the late 90s then onto a minolta damage 5 and finaly onto canon 300d
now i use exclusivly canon gear mainly because my accessories are all canon and it makes sense to stick with em
