    Default New firmware out?

Tried to go online with my PSP to the Playstation Store the other night (to see what new songs were in for Rock Band) and it said I needed a software upgrade.
I'm currently on 5.00 M33-4, and it plays anything I throw at it.

I've just had a quick look on pspiso and they are now up to 5.00 M33-6 or 5.50
Which one (if any should go for?)
Is it worth upgrading, and can I downgrade again if it breaks anything?
I bought mine preflashed so I haven't done this before.

    Just found the answer.
    Taken from here

First the Anti-Custom Firmware game Evangelion: Jo, now this. As Sony has blocked Playstation Store access from M33 Custom Firmware. If you try to login to the PSN Store you’ll get this prompt
“A system software update for the PSP system is required. For update methods, refer to the instructions for the PSP system.”
And no, not even a version spoof can trick the system. PSN is out of bounds now on M33 CFW, but 5.50 GEN Custom Firmware still works. We say still, as were certain that Sony will also be blocking this out asap.
Personally I find this move to be unusual of Sony, why? Well they just blocked out future potential PSN downloads and $$$ / profits for Sony and its game developers

What is the best firmware to have then? Is it the M33 or the GEN custom firmware? Anyone know the pros and cons?

Can't say for sure, but I'm sticking with M33 for now. I only wanted to go on the Sony Store for some new songs for Rock Band but I don't want to mess the device up just for that.
I've heard that the GEN firmware doesn't play ISO's, just CSO's, and half my games are in ISO format. I'll have to do some more digging.
This does smack of Sony cutting their nose off to spite their face, I was actually going to spend some money!

Cheers for that funkyg, seems the general preference for PSP firmware is the M33 one. I just got round to flashing my 1003 series PSP to M33-6 Works a treat!
