Help urgently needed, please
Firstly my apologies is this is at all difficult to understand, when it comes to PC's most of the time I know what im doing if I have the PC infront of me but I struggle with the technical computer jargon therefore im not very good at explaining what I mean.
Here goes anyway, im trying to change my Mum's IDE HDD to a SATA HDD but I am struggling to pick up the SATA HDD in the Bios, even when I leave the IDE HDD in and put the SATA as a second HDD I can still not pick up the SATA when PC is turned on, although it does then give me error code 10 on the VIA VT8237 RAID conroller in device manager. The SATA does not currently have an OS on it as it is brand new. as are the leads and cables im using. The IDE HDD has Windows Vista Ultimate on it which is also the OS im wanting to put on the SATA HDD as i know XP will not go on it unless I have the sata drivers on a floppy disk. I have had this issue with my own PC but can't recall how I resolved the problem as not exactly sure what is was I did, this leads me to thinking that its a settings or driver issue rather than a hardware one.
I hope I have provided enough information for to be able to advise me were I might be going wrong. Looking forward to hearing from you as already pulling my hair out and wish to have my Mum's upgraded PC up and running as soon as possible.
Many thanks for your time, eagarly awaiting your replies .
