Hi people,
Wonder if anyone here can offer me some advice? Sorry it's a bit long winded.
Just playing around installing apps etc on my N95 8Gb, and the PC Suite advises me to upgrade my firmware, so I thought why not. After the 113Mb download, the update fails and the phone no longer switches on, I'm left with a blank screen just the buttons light up and I get one vibrate from it.
I tried all the suggested things I could find on the net, about hard resets, enabling in the Device Manager and trying again, but to no avail.
So I dropped it in to a Nokia Service agent to have them force a re-flash of the phone, only to have them ring me up and say they now have to order me a new LCD and a new Slider??
So I spent 20 mins on the phone to the engineer, asking him how a software failure could have affected these parts, only to be told he couldn't force the re-flash, so using Nokia's advice and a bullitin he has from them he's ordering these parts and I'm now stuck waiting up to 30 days for my repair
Admittadly the phone is under warranty, so it's all being done for free, but after 20 years working on PC's, doing many a firmware upgrade etc, I can't understand the logic behind what I'm being told?
I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this, or any similar experience?
Do I shut up and stop whining?
Do I get my handset back, take it else where?
Do I supsect maybe someone's ordering parts on my warranty to fix his mates phone??? I dunno??
