Nintendo DS Dismantle DS-Lite & new case?

My mums mate has a geen DS-Lite with a fucked hinge (completely snapped off). Does anyone have a guide for dismantling the console and where I can get a new case?

Basically needs it's guts swapped over, an original Nintendo one in the same colour would be ideal.

    Cheers!

Very simple, yet a bit fidly.

Take a look on ebay for parts - sometimes can get faulty ones for 15-25 quid - cheap original spares.

Checkout www.dealextreme.com for your parts - I've done a few DS-Lites before and they do some billy-bargain prices: for instance an upper DSL screen for approx. $10 delivered and a completely new case for $14 delivered!

    Screen here

Case here (not quite green but Rose coloured which could be nice.)

    All less than £15 delivered.

ive got a few of that part spare if you want one, only in white or black though.

The full cases from dealextreme are excellent, although they're not official as many people think, they are pretty much 99.9% as good. Ive fitted a few from there and its not that difficult, just take your time. theres toms of guides and vids on youtube.

Sorry to jump on your thread hermaN but having loads of problems changing my sons case
bought a new case from deal extreme, ordered new hinge as the case didn't come with one.
I've since fitted the new case, screen flashed on for a second then went off, a bit research tells me it's the ribbon from the bottom screen to the top one not housed properly. So ordered a new top screen with ribbon attached, soldered on the speaker wires and reassembled DS, started up perfect but the touch screen didn't work, after taking it apart to check it out I'm back to the stage where the screen flicks white for a second then nowt. Should I order a new touch screen?? I've checked all ribbons and they look to be housed properly. HELP

clean ribbon with switch cleaner....probably a tiny amount of grease off your fingers on it.

I had the same problem with mine but a good clean as Swiss suggested did the trick.

If you're thinking of ordering a new top screen because of scratches, there is a front cover over the screen which will be scratched, not the screen itself so save a few quid (unlike me )

The only issue I've found with the DX case is the hole for the stylus is a little too big and it falls out easily. Other than that, they're spot on.

Thanks for the advice I thought you's had cracked it, After cleaning the ribbons the DS came on for 2-3 seconds before shutting down the first time, even got the nintendo sign on. Now however I'm back to a 1 second flash then off. any ideas before I buy loads more parts I may not need.

Is the cable FULLY seated! I had this same problem when I did my mums mates. Simply unclipped the cable slid it in, then pulled on it with the 2 little bits that stick out and locked it in, was fine after that.

Sounds to me it's not properly seated seeing as it stayed on for longer then went back to what it was doing, was probably just seated right, then it prob moved a bit and put it out again.
